The meaning of Naru

나루
na·ru Korean, noun

a ferry landing on a river — where a boat comes to rest, and where it sets out again

It is where someone who has carried a heavy load all day can finally set it down and catch their breath — and where they board another boat, bound somewhere new. That is what we hope Naru Church can be: a place of encounter, of restoration, and of setting out again.

Encounter

Welcomed exactly as you are

At the landing we meet God first. He receives us exactly as we are, so you can set down whatever you carried in, breathe out, and talk about the road that brought you here. And we meet one another. People whose stories look nothing alike sit side by side, see each other as they are, respect and welcome one another — and out of that, share life.

Restoration

What arrives while we share

Restoration tends to arrive in ordinary places — while we tell our stories and rest a while. Naru is a place where that kind of rest is welcome.

Onward

A place along the way

A boat rests at the landing, then sets out again. Our steps are headed toward the kingdom of God, and we hope Naru Church can be both a place to lean on along the way and a companion for the whole road.
